Of beards and books...
Happy New Year, all.
I’ve been meaning for the last few months to find sufficient reason to shave off my goatee, which I’ve had since the mid-nineties. Honouring my late father is a good one, as I have his chin (such as it is); Samhain being the new year is another. Then I found out that November is also “Mo”vember, where men are growing moustaches to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research. Since a bunch of guys in my office are doing it, and my uncle in BC has been dealing with prostate cancer, I decided to shave the goatee, grow a ‘stache in November, and (likely at Mar’s insistence) grow the beard back in December. Shameless plug: Please donate to Prostate Cancer Canada through "Movember" at http://ca.movember.com/ ... e-mail me at evergreentrad@hotmail.com if you'd like donate directly through my Movember page, and I'll give you the exact URL and out myself to you in the process. Such a deal!
In the meantime, Margarian will be participating in National Novel Writing Month during November; a little less intense than the Three-Day Novel Writing Contest on Labour Day weekend. The goal is to write and post 50,000 words in 30 days, an average of a mere 1,667 words per day. Margarian was a “winner” two years ago (i.e. she made the goal) but had to drop out last year because of her illness. Good luck to those of you who attempt it! Info at: http://www.nanowrimo.org/
Condolences this month to Heather Dawn, on the loss of her beloved Jewel.
November's Birthdays: Helen L., Christine L., and probably some of my Facebook friends. Let me know if I’ve missed yours.
