Lammas, 2013
Happy Lammas, everyone.
I saw my first leaf fall just the other morning, and the back-to-school ads are already out. The river is starting to clear, as the silt settles out, but for some the recovery hasn’t begun yet. I think the flooding and all that came afterwards, together with unsettled weather the last month, has seriously erased most of our summer. Yet while there’s been a chill in the air in recent mornings, I’m still convinced there’s still warm weather ahead.
In happier news, you really have to hand it to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, for taking Sacred Kingship seriously. Allowing for a bit of slack in all cases, Will and Kate were married at Beltane, conceived George around Samhain, and produced him at Lughnasadh (on a full moon, as a Facebook meme noted). There’s obviously going to be something special about that kid.
