Hiatus

Happy October, everyone.
Samhain is coming. The Wheel of the Year is running down, setting up for the beginning of a new cycle. It is a time for the settling of accounts, of culling the excess, and for keeping that which will sustain us through the months ahead. Several of my Evergreen family and friends have had dramatic changes in their lives in recent weeks, and my thoughts and love go out to all of them.  Perhaps with the coming of Comet ISON in late November, we will see the promise of good things ahead.

It will come as no surprise to those of you who know me well, that I’ve been overstretched of late, and that I have to cut back on my responsibilities somewhat in order to take care of myself and other matters closer to home. Once again it is a matter of doing a few things well, rather than many things poorly.

Firstly, I’ll be putting the Almanack as is, on hiatus for a while, posting a skeleton schedule, although I may chime in on topics of interest from time to time.  If anyone is interested in covering for me, let me know.
I’ll also be scaling back on hosting the Calgary Witches’ Meetup; Jen has offered to host the north Meetups, which will likely be moving from Tuesdays to accommodate her schedule.

The Ritual Leadership Workshop has been rescheduled to November 8-10, so if anyone is interested in attending, please contact me.

September, 2013

So, September. The Daylight Savings Time Sun is setting on our morning commute, as Sirius, Gemini, and the stars of Orion make their faint appearances in the morning sky. Already there’s the beginning of a morning chill in the air, as students return to school, and adults, conditioned by their own school years, begin to look for some new task to undertake. There are still some warm, even hot, days ahead, but we all know the clock is ticking on anything we still wish to accomplish while the season holds. At least the changing colours on the trees will provide a picturesque background, and beckon us to take one more trip into the hinterland.

On September 28, Calgary Pagan Pride Day will be happening at the Unitarian Church, showcasing a number of the groups in town. Evergreen will have a table with some of Margarian’s crafts for sale, and a group of our students and recent initiates are planning to lead a harvest ritual there. It’s been several years since we had one, a great team of organizers is in place, and it promises to be the pagan event of the year. See the link below.

The Calgary Psychic Fair and Pagan Market on August 24 went well, and another has been scheduled for a larger venue in West Hillhurst in early October. Stay tuned for details.

An Evergreen welcome to Janet P., on her recent dedication!

September Birthdays:  Lee G., Kelly W., Anjelica, Anne W., Salone, Carla M., Tiger Lily, Alysha, and Cat B.  Happy Birthday, everyone! Let me know if I’ve missed yours.
